Dr. Marcus Anthony Hunter is the Scott Waugh Endowed Chair in the Division of the Social Sciences and Professor of sociology and African American Studies at UCLA., coiner of #BlackLivesMatter, and author of four books: Black Citymakers: How The Philadelphia Negro Changed Urban America, Chocolate Cities: The Black Map of American Life (coauthored with Zandria F. Robinson), The New Black Sociologists, and Radical Reparations forthcoming Summer 2022 with HarperCollins/Amistad. He is also the co-founder of the U.S. Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (US TRHT) Movement. Under the leadership of Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Senator Cory Booker, we are urging Congress to create the first US TRHT Commission to help unlock the truth on historical racial inequities, injustices, and racism and push this country to racial healing.
