Lauren Outlaw
Lauren Outlaw is passionate about increasing equitable access to high-quality education opportunities for all students. She has over 10 years of experience in policy development; legal research, analysis, and compliance; technical assistance; and equity-based facilitation. She recently joined the Lumen Impact Group as a Senior Partner where she supports clients on process improvement strategies, grants management; and translating legislation into actionable resources. Lauren previously served as the Senior Policy Specialist at WestEd where she was a member of the School Choice and Strategic Resource Planning & Implementation teams. Some of her primary responsibilities in this role included aligning strategic planning and budget processes to maximize resources; developing high-quality charter school authorizing practices designed to improve student outcomes; and establishing policies that promote system productivity and effectiveness. During her time at WestEd, she also co-founded the Black Diaspora Network—an employee resource group—to support the advancement of the agency’s internal diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities. Lauren holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Maurer School of Law Bloomington and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbia University.
