What is the Unum Academy?

Unum Academy is a leadership accelerator focused on cultivating a pipeline of future leaders skilled in equity practices and primed for leadership opportunities. Over the course of 11 months, Academy members engage in workshops, activities, and internship experiences designed to increase their knowledge around core concepts related to equity work, meet other young people with similar passions, and learn how they can advance equity in any sector, industry, or field of study.

During the fall and spring semesters, Academy members participate in virtual learning sessions focused on:

• Foundational equity education

• Tools and approaches used in the practice of equity-focused work

• Professional development and network-building

In the summer, the Academy sponsors a paid internship in the student’s local communities at an organization that works to address issues of inequity, its causes, or its impact.
